WASTED2004 Day 14 Final day on the slopes for Melanie and me and it's shaping up to be another epic day. 6 inches of new snow over night and it's still snowing hard here in the Village. The snow is expected to continue throughout the day and into the evening.

All this talk of snow has got me thinking why I am sitting here typing on the computer when I should be gearing up and heading out. Time to enjoy our final pow day here at Whistler.

WASTED2004 Day 13 We had the perfect day yesterday. It snowed overnight and there was nothing but blue skies during the day. Melanie and I hit the Blackcomb Glacier first. Lots of untouched powder. Getting in and out of the glacier is not necessarily easy but yesterday it was well worth it.

We spent the afternoon hang around the 7th Heaven area. Again the snow conditions couldn't have been better. I headed out of bound to make some fresh tracks and found myself glading down the wrong side of the mountain. After a short hike I was back inbounds.

WASTED2004 Day 12 We awoke to more new snow this morning. Melanie and I are heading to Blackcomb for more powder riding. We have seen 29 inches of new snow in the last week. By far this has been the best snow conditions Melanie and I have ever seen at Whistler.

WASTED2004 Day 10 What an incredible trip this has been so far. The snow conditions have been great and the views amazing. Two crew members were injured on Day 6 and to add salt to the wound 45 cm of new snow fell over night. Day 7 was Pow Day for the four who made it out. Melanie struggled in the fresh powder early on but soon got the hang of it and started ripping it up. Stephen, Justin and I opened it up on the first run blasting through mounds of soft powder. I don't think my legs have ever worked so hard but it was well worth it. Days like that are definitely special.

Melanie and I returned to Blackcomb mountain on Day 8 to ride what was left of the powder. 7th Heaven was still having lift problems so we jump over to the other side and start riding Horseman Glacier. Sweet rides everywhere. Even though we were exhausted we rode hard for most of the day.

Day 9 was a day of rest for Melanie. I rode my first double black on Whistler while Ricky and Maureen spent their first day at Whistler taking a snowboard lesson. Both showed up to Blacks for a'pre ski with smiles on their faces and sore bums.

Day 10 is just starting out. Everyone is sleeping in a little later today to get some much needed rest but we will be on the slopes by mid-morning. Melanie and I will probably hit some of the runs off the Peak chair and head down to Creekside, a place she has never been. Ricky and Maureen will continue trying the green runs as they improve their snowboarding skills. And Joe will probably continue playing Amped 2 as he nurses his sore ankle.

WASTED2004 Day 6 First day out for Chun, Melanie and me and the snow was incredible. Again, the snow was and still is incredible. And just our luck it is starting to snow again setting tomorrow up for an epic day. Bad news of the day were the injuries. We started out as a crew of 6 and ended the day with a crew of 4. Snow packs are on the legs of many in the condo. Hopefully the full crew will be at it again tomorrow as we hit Blackcomb.

WASTED2004 Day 5 Here I sit hiding away in the hotel bathroom playing on the computer using the hotel's free wireless Internet access. Melanie is sleeping right now; no doubt dreaming about sprays of soft powder as she carves down an untracked bowl. I on the other hand cannot sleep as I am anxiously awaiting Whistler and fresh tracks. We'll be riding it this time tomorrow. You can count on that.

Meanwhile Melanie and I are in Salt Lake City avoiding the storm that hit New York last night. Chun is flying out from NYC today. He is a paying passenger with a direct flight to Vancouver so his chances of getting to Whistler from NYC today are much better than ours would have been. I have to say I like what I have seen of Salt Lake City so far. The mountain views are amazing. Melanie and I will most definitely have to return next month for an extend weekend.

Latest word from the condo is FRESHIES!!! It's been snowing non-stop for the last 24 hours. Nothing but powder. Visibility is bad but that's Whistler. Joe mentioned falling in powder knee deep. How sweet is that...

Update: Be sure to read Olivier's comment below.

WASTED 2004 Day 3 Melanie and I are debating whether or not to leave a day early before the big Noreastern hits the East Coast. The question at hand: Do we leave at 7 am or 4 pm? Of course we both like the idea of leaving at 7 am and getting to Whistler a day early. But a 7 am flight is really early for us and we both like to sleep in the morning. Fear not though. We will be in Whistler very soon and post from the slopes will soon start.
